Dexter and the use of ghosts.

Dexter is a ongoing American tv series based around a blood splatter analysis called Dexter Morgan, the show was ,developed, written and produced by James Manos, Jr.

The reason I am referring to Dexter is because of how Manos portrays Dexter’s deceased father. Much like ‘Sixth Sense’ director Shamaylan, Manos uses no transparent effects on his ghosts but gives them a much more realistic feel very similar to Shamaylan’s style. The only real way we can tell it’s a flashback other than the obvious appearance of his dad is that in series 1-3 Manos altered the saturation of the scene to make it clear that this was in fact one of Dexter’s hallucinations. During these scenes much like Shamaylan’s the ghosts, and visions interact with the character giving him advice although it would appear that that character is simply talking to themselves.

As seen in this image we see Dexter laid on the table, his dad stood towering over him. As you can see when his Dad is in a scene with him there are bright lights everywhere, something that happens every time his dad is in the same scene with him.
