Detailed Description of the Car scene.

Detailed Description of the Car scene.

When the flashback occurs in the bathroom we are taken to the streets, we see TOM enter the car. Then we get a shot through the windscreen if possible. This would be followed from shots inside the car as the driver sets off. This can follow with shots of the car moving, shots from the front with a car driving towards the camera, shots from in between cars as the car goes by.

How I planned to show the car crash would be that the GIRL walks into the centre of the road and stands and watches the car as it approaches. Whilst this is happening we have a shot from inside the car, the phone on the seat begins to ring this can be viewed through cinematography, close ups of the mobile on the seat ringing, a reaction face as he cannot decide what to do. Eventually he reaches for it but drives over a speed bump at the same time, making him drop it into the passenger foot well.
He reaches down into the foot well to try and get it whilst he is focusing on this the girl steps into the road as mentioned above. He notices this and tries to stop the car, however he is too late. We hear the crash a cut to a new shot, I wanted to show the rim of the wheel slowly roll, the camera following it until we see TOM and the GIRL, in the street, all we can hear is either the sound of an ambulance or a heartbeat.

The scene ends with TOM holding the lifeless GIRL in the street.

Finished Script/Screenplay.

INT. TOMS ROOM

TOM is laid on his bed, looking up at the camera/ceiling, his arms behind his head.

Cut to a shot from the side, TOM still looking at ceiling. He then turns to look at the camera. Point of view shot of a clock which reads 10pm.

Camera changes back to being above him as he looks at the ceiling again.

Night changes to Day, he looks at the clock.

Point of view shot 8am.

TOM wipes under his eyes as if he was wiping tears away. He then gets up and sits on the end of the bed. Camera change to looking directly at him as he sits there, he then gets up his head above the camera then he walks past.

A shot from above as he walks down the stairs. The camera quickly cuts to where it was when TOM entered the house in a previous scene. This time he leaves his bag on the floor and rushes out the door.

The instrumental enters COLD WAR KIDS – SAINT JOHN.

EXT. STREETS NEAR TOMS HOUSE.

As he gets through the door, he stops briefly, giving the camera enough time to catch up with him, over the shoulder as he walks out, the GIRL stood at the gate staring at him as he leaves. He turns his head to look at her as he does.

As he walks down the path the GIRL is stood just on the grass next to the path as he walks by this time he blanks her. After he passes her the camera cuts to the front, a medium close up of his shoulders and head as the girl is stood behind him just staring at him. He keeps walking fast and determined. A tracking shot of him showing how fast he’s going.

A cut the camera is just behind TOM the camera starts at the back of his feet, we can see the GIRL ahead again, the camera slowly starts to rise up to an over the shoulder shot as we get closer to the GIRL.

Eventually TOM gets to the road, he stops suddenly, a shot of his feet on the edge of the curb. Then a profile shot of him stood there. Another cut, medium close up of shoulders and head, the GIRL stood in the background. He closes his eyes.

Shot of his legs as he steps of the curb and into the road.

MUSIC STOPS SUDDENLY.

Screen goes black, and we hear the crash and a heartbeat flatlining.

CREDITS ROLL.

The Ending

The Ending

I had decided that the ending will consist of the protagonist eventually being lead to suicide? Because of the depression, which the audience will witness. The audience see the character reject food, has become distanced from society as witness, his life is destroyed unable to sing. My next task is to simply figure out how to incorporate this into my final film. I have decided that the changed ending will occur after the sleepless night. The character will leave a birds eye view shot from above as he walks down the stairs and into the hall. The character seems to have more determination about him as he storms out of the house and down the street. The Girl ghost appearing as he walks, he sees her, we see him looking at her as she stands at the side of the path. Over the shoulder shots, eye line match, slow motion as he brushes past her. The idea is that he has been driven over the ending with guilt and the haunting of the girl ghost, a shot from the top- his shoulder the camera then falls down to the side of his feet as he walks down the path. When the camera gets to this point we see the cars racing past each other a sign that he isn’t stopping as he approaches. The camera then rises from the front of him as we see his face, the look of determination in his eyes, perhaps crying. Then we get a shot of the girls on the road as the quickly rush past. TOM appears from the street, we get a shot of his face he is to the right of the centre, in the background we see the girl in the background standing there. He closes his eyes. A shot of his legs as he steps out into the road. Screen goes black. We hear the crash and the sirens as th credits roll. At the end of the credits perhaps a scene of were TOM was previously sat in the dining hall, this time empty.
